Riches McKenzie & Herbert LLP continues in the tradition of Charles H. Riches who in 1887 founded one of first patent firms in what was then the recently formed Dominion of Canada.
Our offices are located centrally in Toronto, Canada's largest city, and which is the country's major transportation hub. Following the roots of its foundation, Riches McKenzie & Herbert LLP continues to practice exclusively in the area of intellectual property law. This single professional focus for more than 120 years has resulted in a global network of associations that enable us to secure and enforce our clients' intellectual property rights worldwide.
In 1887 Charles H. Riches, an engineer and pioneering Canadian Patent Attorney founded one of Canada's earliest firms specializing in patent and industrial design matters. Later in his career, Charles would be joined in the practice by his two sons.
George H. Riches would continue the firm, initially alone and then ultimately in partnership with his son and the third Riches generation, Ronald Riches together with Dale McKenzie and Paul Herbert.
Throughout that time and to date, Riches McKenzie & Herbert LLP has maintained as its sole focus, the protection of its clients' intellectual property in Canada and abroad.
